It's the universal day of love and Clay Dempsey of Cinephelia has show us his love for Mantis in his online review

"Mantis will make you question the costs of keeping a family together: at what point does a man have to give up not only to secure his manhood, but also to protect his young? The film pushed me in a corner where I had to examine myself in the situation. Brendon Foster-Algoo has created a short that establishes a new way of thinking.""

Happy New Years!!!!

Let's begin the new year by wrapping up last year. Rogue cinema has blessed Neutral Density Films with yet another review, this time for Anamnesis.

"Anamnesis is a gripping short film and I couldn't peel my eyes away from the screen. The photography was wonderful, the editing superb, and the fight choreography was nothing short of excellent. Director/producer/editor Brendon Foster-Algoo (and fellow producer Barry Choi) have created a mini-masterpiece..."
- Jordan Garren, Rogue Cinema, December 2006

2006.December.25

Neutral Density Films would like to wish everyone Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year. See you in 2007.

2006.December.15

It's the holiday season so you can imagine that it's been a very busy time for Neutral Density Films as we prepare to break for the Holidays. Two new reviews have come up, Rogue Cinema has posted posted reviews for both Mantis and The Rhythm of Youth as part of their November issue.

"Expertly written, eye-catching and difficult to forget, Mantis is a film which will grab viewers by their hearts and minds. A film which demands (and deserves) attention, providing a compelling emotional argument and a case against the current Canadian support system, intelligently highlighting the bitter struggle silently faced by many adult males."
- David Stephenson, Rogue Cinema, November 2006

"The way in which the documentary is made is excellent, the production values are very high. The subject matter is certainly intriguing, and makes for great viewing. The central character is a very charismatic little boy who's both insightful in his interviews, and yet heart-warming. And there's no doubt as to the boy's talent either...The Rhythm Of Youth is a strong bit of film."
- David Stephenson, Rogue Cinema, November 2006

To read the full reviews please check out Mantis or The Rhythm of Youth at Rogue Cinema

2006.August.16

On behalf of Barry Choi and myself, I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of Roberto Ariganello who passed away in a tragic drowning accident in Nova Scotia on August 13th. He was 45 years old.

Roberto was the Executive Director of LIFT (The Liasion of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto), of which I was a member throughout my years as a student in York University's Film Production Program. Roberto was instrumental in the making of our two films "Anamnesis" and "Mantis". He helped us get in contact with crew that enabled us to shoot on film, a medium that was dear to his heart and a passion shared between myself and Roberto. He also supported "Anamnesis" through LIFT's 2004 Salon Des Refuses: one of our first film festivals that paved the way for the over 30 film festivals worldwide in which the film has screened.

Roberto was an easy-going spirit- he always very warm, generous and supportive, and his absence is going to be acutely missed in the Toronto filmmaking and film student community.

Thank you, Roberto.
